Learn how to arrange and draft the essential business communication genres: email, letters, digital media, and proposals.This course covers fundamental workplace communication from the hand shake to answering the phone to writing an email. Throughout the course, we will explore multiple modes of communication and etiquette for workplace and professional environments: written, non-verbal, and digital. This course is especially helpful for individuals who have not had traditional access to a business communication course.

Finding Your Writing SPACE

This course provides participants a strong background on professional communication. I open this training course with the question: What is professional communication? How does it work? We also discuss what happens when workplace communication goes wrong. As this article in Forbes demonstrates, professional communication failures can be extremely detrimental to a company including risking lives, profits, and morale. To help minimize the risk of communication failure, the course provides a solid foundation in communication practices and conventions such as speaking to your audience and composing your ideas in plain English

Now you need to take these complex concepts and transform and translate them into readable copy for a wide range of audiences.  With Know Your Audience, you will practice breaking down complex ideas into manageable ideas for multiple audiences.

The Writing with Style course explores ways to expertly craft persuasive, clear, and well-developed writing. A skilled writer composes for her reader and crafts her words for effect. In this course, I provide lessons on grammar, tone, word choice, arrangement, and etiquette.

In Playing Hardball, your team will learn how to create a persuasive pitchbook, which can be altered to comprehensive pitchbooks and savvy presentations.        

Color in the Lines: Basic Document Design

Even in world full of templates and pre-designed documents, a solid foundation on document design can up your audience engagement and promote your services and products better. In this course, we learn basic design modes (contrast, color and alignment) as well as the relationships between different media (video, writing, music).
